Hakhu began with women. Kichwa women in the Amazon create economic alternatives through their knowledge and craft.But as mining expanded and pressure intensified, it became clear that livelihoods alone were not enough.Territory had to be defended.
Today, from Serena in Napo, Hakhu has grown into a coordinated system that connects Indigenous communities, legal action, and strategic communication to protect one of the most critical regions of the Amazon.

From the Ecuadorian Amazon, Indigenous women share their art, their stories, and their knowledge with the world.
Through Hakhu Amazon Design, we support women to create sustainable livelihoods that strengthen communities and reduce pressure from extractive industries.
Each piece is handmade in the Amazon using ancestral techniques combined with contemporary design.

Fashion as a power tool.
The fashion industry has long operated through systems that extract value from Indigenous cultures without recognition or redistribution.
Hakhu takes a different position.
We do not adapt Indigenous identity to fit global markets.
We bring it as it is — with authorship, context, and autonomy.
Global presence.
In 2025, Hakhu received the Equator Prize (UNDP) for its work in climate action and sustainable livelihoods.
We were honored with this Prize, selected from over 700 initiatives across 103 countries, celebrating the defense of life and the planet.
Also, we have showcased our designs on global stages: New York Fashion Week, Ecuatextil, BILM Camp, Art Basel Miami, and MICSur, showing the world that Indigenous creativity is vibrant, innovative, and transformative.
